PURDUE CRUSHES ENROLLMENT RECORD … AGAIN: Purdue President Mitch Daniels has been assuring another record enrollment – make that five years running – since May, when the university announced that it had a class of more than 10,000 freshman heading to West Lafayette. So, the news Monday – when Daniels revealed the numbers to faculty on the University Senate first, as is his tradition – wasn’t that there were more students on campus than ever. It’s just how big. A QUIET SCHOOL BOARD MEETING … WHAT?: A month ago, the Lafayette School Corp. board adjourned when a group of residents who came for public comment time wouldn’t wear masks, as the district’s policy – changed days earlier – insisted. That set off a commotion among those who wanted their chance to challenge a COVID-era policy change made by LSC Superintendent Les Huddle, rather than by a vote of the LSC board. So, here was the scene Monday night.
